Tesla/Electric-Vehicle Charger Installation

Higgins Electric is a Tesla Certified Installer serving the Greater Memphis Area and North Mississippi. We install Tesla Wall Connectors and Level 2 EV chargers so your vehicle is fully charged every morning. Not trickling a few miles overnight from a standard outlet. Licensed and in business since 1998, we handle the whole job: load calculations, panel evaluation, the dedicated 240V circuit, permitting, and inspection. Tesla, F-150 Lightning, or any other EV, we'll get you charging at home. Safely and to code.

A proper install is more than mounting a box on the wall. We evaluate your panel first to confirm it can handle the load. And because we're a Tesla partner, we can set up Dynamic Power Management, which lets your Wall Connector adjust its draw based on your home's real-time usage, often letting you add charging without a costly panel upgrade. From there, we run the circuit, mount and commission the connector, pull the permit, and handle the inspection.

After we install, we test the connector to confirm it's charging at full speed, then walk you through the Tesla app so you can schedule charging, track usage, and manage settings from your phone.

Why Higgins Electric? We're a family-owned, licensed electrical contractor that's served the Memphis metro and North Mississippi since 1998. The Tesla Certified Installer credential is one that most local electricians don't carry. It means your install meets Tesla's own standards, not just code minimums. From the first quote to the final test, you're working with a local team that does this every week and stands behind it.

For our commercial clients, we install and network multiple Tesla Wall Connectors with Power Sharing, so a bank of chargers distributes capacity intelligently instead of forcing an expensive service upgrade. As a Tesla partner, we build to Tesla's commercial siting standards and handle the coordination with Tesla directly, so your site qualifies, performs, and gets listed without you managing the back-and-forth.

FAQs

How much does it cost to install a Tesla Wall Connector in Memphis?

The cost depends on a few factors specific to your home: how far the charger needs to be mounted from your electrical panel, whether your panel has enough available capacity or needs an upgrade, and whether the run is indoors or outdoors. A simple install with the panel close by sits at the lower end, while longer wire runs, outdoor mounting, or a panel upgrade increase the cost. As a Tesla Certified Installer, we evaluate your home first and give you a firm, upfront quote so you know the full price before any work begins.

Will my electrical panel support an EV charger?

Not every panel can handle the added load without modification. Older homes with 100-amp service or a full panel may need an upgrade. But in many cases, we can run a lower-amperage circuit that still delivers plenty of range for a typical daily commute. We can also use Dynamic Power Management to fit the charger to your home's existing capacity. We evaluate your panel before quoting, so you know exactly what your home needs.

What is Dynamic Power Management?

Dynamic Power Management (DPM) lets your Tesla Wall Connector share power with the rest of your house. When you run a big appliance like the dryer, the charger eases back so you don't overload the panel, then speeds back up when the dryer's done. The payoff: in homes where the panel is near capacity, DPM often lets us add EV charging without a costly upgrade. As a Tesla partner, we can set it up as part of your install.

Are you actually certified by Tesla?

Yes. Higgins Electric is a Tesla Certified Installer, meaning we've met Tesla's training and standards for Wall Connector installation, a credential most local electricians don't carry. Because we're certified, we'll commission your charger through Tesla and register the install. This activates the full manufacturer warranty on the unit, unlocks over-the-air firmware updates and app features, and lets us put your home on Tesla's map of certified installations. It's your assurance that the job is done to Tesla's specifications and fully backed.

Do you only install Tesla chargers?

Not at all. While we're a Tesla Certified Installer, we install Level 2 chargers for every EV make and model. That includes brands like ChargePoint, Wallbox, Emporia, and Grizzl-E, as well as manufacturer units like the Ford Charge Station Pro. Whatever you drive and whatever charger you've chosen, we'll install it safely and to code. Not sure which charger to buy? We're glad to help you pick the right one for your vehicle and your home.
